The Reception February 17th

Amy and Paul with Shirley, his mom (between Paul & Amy) and Jose (at right), his dad, arriving at the reception. The garlands around their necks are made of marigolds and jasmine.

These young men were fantastic! They waited at the gate to the retreat until Amy and Paul arrived from the church. Then they drummed and marched down the driveway in front of the car. They are dressed in mundas the common everyday wear for men in the region. There are drummers in front and behind the young men standing with the small cymbals. They played and danced several times over the next hour. They were a real treat!

Julie wanted a picture of me in India-here it is folks! It's the only one I've seen so far of me in a saree. That is Father Xavier next to me-he performed the ceremony and the 'emergency baptism' of Amy. He said the ceremony in English and Malayalam, the language of Kerala.

Great job with the "blog." Who says we geezers can't ascribe to the interwebs age! Great pics - sounds like a wonderful trip. I'm looking forward to hearing you & Tom describe your experiences & Amy's "emergency" baptism.
