Xavier

This is Xavier, the fisherman at Kallenchery, where we stayed in Kumbalangi. He is raising the Chinese fishing net out of the water with the help of the ropes and large stone weights. The light attracts prawns at night. He spoke no English, but tried his best to teach us the names of the various fish he caught in his nets.

Xavier uses this hut built over the water to get shelter during the monsoon season, while he's fishing. Monsoons run June through August or September.
