This is an example of the auto rickshaw. They were everywhere. Drivers were part taxi driver, part tour guide, part huckster.

The city provided water only at certain times every day. The women would all gather around with their aluminum pots waiting for the spigot to be turned on. This was near our homestay in Kumbalangi.

This is an example of the houseboats in the backwaters of Kerala. This is a big tourist business-they can be rented by the hour, day or week. We rented one for 3 hours with a crew of 3, for $25 an hour! I will post some of the beautiful views we saw later.
