Fuel From Food Waste

The large grey cylinder is a methane converter. At Kallanchery, as in many homes in Kerala, food waste is converted to methane for fuel. The food waste goes into the small concrete bin to the left of the methane tank and is forced in with a large pole. Depositing waste in a nation with this population is a major problem so this is a wonderful win-win! What a modern solution to an age-old problem.
